Ataxx
Description
This game has been written by Dave Crummack and Craig
Galley in 1988 as a computer game and has never been published as a boardgame, although there have been created many programs and there are lots of online and turn based server where to play. Discs flip like in Othello, but there are two types of moves. Discs can be added on the board, valid moves are all empty cases in contact with one other disc of the same colour, or moved, making a disc jump to an empty square at the distance of 2. Whatever the move is, when a disc lands in one case, the 8 (or less) discs that surround it become of the same colour (infection). The original game uses a 7x7 board instead of 8x8, and sometimes some cases are blocked by obstacles.
The strategy of this game is completely different from Othello, and it's quite interesting.
